Hip Hop Music's Drake Sued For Copyright Infringement

Hip Hop Music's Drake Sued For Copyright Infringement

According to Playboy Enterprises and Playboy Music, Inc., hip-hop artist Drake sampled the company’s only hit record, Fallin’ In Love, and incorporated the sample beat into his “Best I Ever Had” single. Playboy Enterprises’ suit seeks an injunction against future distribution of the song, as well as the profits from the single. Playboy Enterprises claim that Drake illegally sampled the Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds song, recorded in 1975, which is Playboy Music’s only hit record.

Royalty Free Beats On Sonic Producer

While Drake and his label(s) Cash Money Records and Universal defend Best I Ever Had against Playboy’s accusations, the incident raises the issue of royalties and rights when it comes to rap music. One of the elements of rap music is the inclusion of sample beats from other artists into new works. Artists who are just starting out may not have the resources to license sample beats from established artists and catalogs.

By itself, that’s one reason Sonic Producer is such a great value for any hip-hop or rap music artist who wants to make his or her own beats. Sonic Producer comes loaded with hundreds of royalty-free samples that are yours to use. Better still, you own the rights to the music you create with Sonic Producer beats. You won’t find out after the fact that someone else is legally entitled to the profits from your creation.

Eminem 's Recovery Snares Top Selling Album Sales For 2010

Eminem 's Recovery Snares Top Selling Album Sales For 2010

Eminem’s just-released Recovery album is in line to snare the top-selling album honors for 2010 based on first-week sales. To date, the rap beats music artist’s career includes more than 7.5 million album sales and Recovery is on track to become the best-selling album of 2010. US sales are approaching 600,000 copies and UK sales of the same disc may exceed 140,000 copies. Recovery will eclipse Drake’s “Thank Me Later” which was released just one week earlier than Recovery.

Drake and Eminem Sales Show Strong Demand For Rap

For those industry analysts who have insisted that rap and hip-hop music are dead, the Recovery/Thank Me Later duo have something to say about that. Rap music is one area in which record sales continue to be strong. In comparison, Miley Cyrus’ Can’t Be Tamed is expected to sell between 125,000 and 150,000 copies in its debut week.

Recovery has not only eclipsed the other contenders on the current album sales charts, it is also expected to outsell Relapse, Eminem’s most recent album. Currently, Recovery has two of the top-ten iTunes downloads: Love The Way You Lie, a duet with Rihanna and Not Afraid. The Recovery Deluxe Edition and Recovery are the top two iTunes albums.

It’s clear that there’s a real demand for rap music. Some of what makes Eminem’s Recovery attractive to fans are the duets. L’il Wayne, Pink and Rihanna all stars in their own right, take a turn with the iconic rap music maker on Recovery. Recovery is Eminem’s solid return to his roots without once falling into formula.

For rap music fans, Recovery and Thank Me Later are both treats to be savored and underscore the staying power of rap music. There’s nothing decidedly complex about either album, which should be exciting to budding rap music stars. If you’re considering getting started on your rap music career, don’t take that first step without Sonic Producer.

Rapper Jay-Z's Letterman Concert Nixed But The Show Goes On Anyway

Rapper Jay-Z's Letterman Concert Nixed But The Show Goes On Anyway

Rap music mogul Jay-Z, who made a guest appearance on the Late Show With David Letterman last week, was supposed to give a free concert on the balcony of the Ed Sullivan Theater, as part of his Letterman appearance. The planned concert was nipped in the bud by the City of New York, which refused to issue a permit for the concert, citing crowd control concerns. The mayor’s office says that, while permits are often granted on the condition that the show is not publicized, the permit was denied because word of the concert was leaked.

Crowd Control At Drake Concert An Issue

Some observers think that the real reason the Jay-Z concert permit was axed was the crowd control issues that hamstrung the Drake/Hanson concert at the South Street Seaport earlier in the week. In the end, the Jay-Z concert was moved to the rooftop of the Ed Sullivan Theater and the show went on. Jay-Z was also joined by Eminem, who is promoting his latest album, ‘Recovery.”

The lesson here is that nothing can stop great music! Everybody has a little music in their soul and that’s what makes Sonic Producer such a fantastic program. Eminem, L'il Wayne To Star In New Recovery Video

Eminem, L'il Wayne To Star In New Recovery Video

Eminem and L’il Wayne will appear in the video for No Love, a new beat making single from Eminem’s upcoming “Recovery” album. The video featuring L’il Wayne was shot before the rapper, whose given name is Dwayne Carter, began serving what could be a one-year sentence in the New York state prison on Riker’s Island. With good behavior, Weezy could be out in eight months.

The two rap music stars will not appear on the video together, however. Recovery has been the subject of much press coverage lately, since the album was leaked ahead of its scheduled June 22 release date. In addition to the No Love collaboration with L’il Wayne, Recovery also features joint efforts with Pink, Kobe and Rihanna.

Make Your Own New Rap Music Beats!

Since its press leak, the album and its singles have received mixed reviews. Eminem is clearly not satisfied with creating more of the same and is looking to provide audiences with a mixture of sounds, while still staying true to the basics of rap music.

While there has been much talk lately of rap and hip-hop being dead, the incorporation of new sounds and new beats is helping to keep rap music very much alive and evolving as time goes on.

New software, such as Sonic Producer, enable even novice rappers and musicians to create and record their own beats along with a professional sound. Sonic Producer has everything you need to make your own beats. Use your computer – Sonic Producer is available for both the Macintosh and PC platforms. No other special computer equipment is needed.
